The first week of February was Skills Week, and our Unity SkillsUSA chapter celebrated in style! 🔧✂️🪚

Students took part in the annual in‑house Welding, Woodworking, and Cosmetology competitions, and the excitement was off the charts. A huge thank you to Balsam Lake Ace Hardware and Schaffer Manufacturing for donating prizes. We also appreciate Bishop Millwork and Schaffer Manufacturing for volunteering their time to judge.

Everyone had a blast. The Cosmetology competition was such a hit that students may have forgotten to snap photos of the welding and woodworking projects. 🤣

What a fun week! 🎉

ULC/ADP students spread some Valentine cheer! 🌸

Students created beautiful paper flowers filled with Valentine messages and love, then hand‑delivered them to our friends at Sophie’s Manor. Residents enjoyed choosing their colorful flowers and reading the heartfelt notes of kindness.

Guest Speakers in the Meats Unit! 🥩🐄

Students in Mr. Soldner’s Food Processing class (student teacher under Mrs. Jagielo) enjoyed an exciting learning experience during their meats unit with two outstanding guest speakers.

The class welcomed Nate Garvey from the UW–River Falls Meat Plant, a Unity High School graduate and former student. Nate shared his journey into the meat industry, including summer internships, his college experience, and his current role at the UW–River Falls meat plant. He also shared a recent photo of himself in action. 📸

The class also hosted Louis Muench from Louie’s Finer Meats. Louis spoke about his work in the local meat industry and his role at Louie’s Finer Meats. He brought hands‑on excitement to the classroom with a sausage‑making demonstration that gave students a real‑world look at the craft.

Thank‑you to both guest speakers for taking the time to share your knowledge and expertise. It was an engaging and memorable day in Food Processing class! 🎉

Our Busy Bug class has had a busy winter learning all about the Arctic! ⛄🦭

They’ve played in pretend igloos, built their own igloos with marshmallows and pretzels, and even explored how blubber keeps Arctic animals warm using vegetable shortening and ice water. 🧊

They wrapped up their Arctic theme by making penguin hats and having a blast with shaving cream.

What a blast! ❄️🎉
